900mgs day seems a rater high dose, the web site below recommends 500mgs as a max dose. Please check out that dose, it does have side effects and you can overdose on it!
It should start to have an effect in about a month.

I have heard up to six weeks, but I have just passed 3 and am starting to feel a lot better. I think it's different for everyone. Sounds like you have the right dosage, though.

Please check you are OK to take st John's wort as if you are taking antidepressants it can react with them
