I have PCOS and I conceived without help. However, I had been trying the "natural" way for 5 years before that and had a miscarriage in between. It wasn't until I literally gave up and went back to school for my masters degree that I got pregnant. As soon as I stopped worring about it, it happened.

My best friend is an OBGYN nurse. Her best recommendation for getting pregnant w/out medical help is to completely change over to a healthy lifestyle. Stop smoking/drinking. Eat better. Exercise. Get down to a healthy weight. Then maintain that for a while to see if you get results.

INF may or may not work for you. What does your doctor say?

My Obgyn indicated that after four rounds of clomid, the likelihood that I would be successful with clomid alone was very low. But there are some other treatment paths available before jumping all the way to IVF. You need to find an obgyn or reproductive endocronologist that speciallizes in PCOS and that will take the time to explain your options to you.

While seeking fertility assistance, focus on a diet that is low in carbs and low in fat. The Sonoma Diet is a good one and is fairly easy to follow. Exercise daily. Avoid caffiene.

There are many people with PCOS that are ultimately successful in having a child of their own with assistance. Consider the costs as you go, because they can add up and place stress on your marital relationship.

A single round of IVF can cost almost as much as a domestic adoption from a state agency. Two rounds of IVF can cost as much as private or foreign adoption. At some point, if you can get your heart around it, you may want to consider another path.

Good luck.
