Add and combine like terms...

3x^3 -4x + 3 +(-3x^3) + 5x +(-8)

3x^3 - 3x^3 -4x + 5x + 3 - 8

(3x^3 - 3x^3) + (-4x + 5x) + (3 - 8)

0 + x - 5

x - 5

I'm not sure what your question is but here is two possible answers.
if you want to Add the 2 terms:
(3x^3-4x+3)+(-3x^3+5x-8)
3x^3-4x+3-3x^3+5x-8
x-5

if you want to Subtract the 2 terms:
(3x^3-4x+3)-(-3x^3+5x-8)
3x^3-4x+3+3x^3-5x+8
6x^3-9x+11
which has no solution

Hope that helps!

More specifically, add coefficients of like powers of x. Pay attention to the signs, and you always add. First, multiply out any parentheses. (in this case, multiply the right-hand expression by -1). For example, for the term x^3, the coefficients are 3 and -3; when you ADD these, the result is zero.

Add. Remember, subtraction is addition of a number's additive inverse (negative).
