No.
Because pot smoke creates the same cancer hazard that tobacco smoke does.
And just as I would not like my taxi driver or bank manager to be drunk on the job, neither would I like them to be high on pot.

Yes, marijuana should be legal. Why is it that drinking alcohol is perfectly legal but lighting up is so wrong? Why does the Federal Government care about what mental state I am in at any one time? If it doesn't hurt anybody else and no one is coerced I see no reason why it shouldn't be legal. The Federal Government should have no say in the matter. We've become such a nanny state that we cannot make decisions ourselves without their input. Just remember, marijuana used to be legal in this country. It was prescribed by doctors for a number of aliments. The AMA used to support it.

yes, because marijuana for one is not as deadly or harmful as cigarettes or alcohol which are legal. The most important reason would be the money that could go the deficit from taxes from selling it legally. it would create jobs especially for the farmers that get contracts to grow it. another good reason would be that it would greatly reduce the current prison population and ease the strain on the current status of the prison system.

yes. It is on the Schedule 1 for being a gateway drug to other hard core substances. This is such a myth it isn't even funny. Drugs get put onto schedule 1 for serious control because people supposedly abuse it too much. Anyone who smokes weed will tell you that it is not a gateway drug and for reasons above... this can be a serious income for the government if it wasn't so demonized.

Yes, for several valid reasons;
1/ You can tax it, and make money
2/ You can control the quality
3/ You can ensure the fair wages for the farmers, decreasing the drugs gangs power
4/ It would demystify it for the young. Part of rebelling has always been doing things you shouldn't, like under-age drinking. By the time you're 35 you tend to drink less because it's become boring.
Likewise, if you take drug culture from the misty depths of cooldom and street-savvyness, then it would lose its appeal to a lot of potential users.

Yes, it is obvious that enough people want to smoke it does not make sense to devote so much of the criminal justice system to pot growers and smokers. I would prefer that the stuff be sold legally and highly taxed. I believe prohibition has not worked.
Just in case you want to know; I do not smoke pot and I used to be a cop.
