In general, when should a prego test work? In general, should a female wait a week, 2 weeks after a missed a period, or is right away ok? Im wondering what are they designed for.....?

The day of the missed period is fine. Just use the first morning urine. Maybe wait a little longer just to be sure, cause some tests are not as sensitive as others... Try the first response ones... with either one line or two... that showed up clearest for me, 2 days before my missed period even.

pregnancy test are designed to be taken the day after your missed period. Some say you can take them up to 5 days before you missed period, but the best thing to do is to wait until you missed your period. It measures the amount of HCG in your body. That is why it ways to take the test with the first pee of the day. Because you body has stored the pee in your body all night, which will contain the HCG if you pregnant. HCG is a hormone in your body that only shows up when you are pregnant. The HCG levels might not be high enough in you system to take the test any sooner than what the directions on the box have stated.

There are different types of tests. The cheaper ones are usually good the day after you miss your period. Some more expensive ones are early detection and you can tell up to 4 days before you actually are late.
Read on the box and they should tell you when to take the particular test, but be aware that the dates can vary from the different name brands and types.

If you missed a period it should work. But some people will still need a few extra days to two weeks to get the positive answer.

you can use them a day after or even better EPT has one you can use 5 days before before you missed your period. I personally think you should wait at least three days or so before you take one.Just to make sure because sometimes its just a false alarm. Good luck with your test. I hope it works out for your best interest.
