I think this is something we allow to happen to us. If we choose not to, we can stop it by putting up emotional walls. If we allow this person inside our walls, we may fall for them. However ,it usually does require effort too. Returning conversations, returning phone calls, eye contact, flirting, all chosen behaviours.
