it's not going to hurt you at this time, but my midwife suggested switching to saline only nose spray, to keep from getting over medicated. and benadryl and claratin are safe for you to take for your allergies.

Nasal decongestant sprays should not be used during pregnancy for lots of reasons. The most important reason is that they "shrink" tissues and constrict blood vessel. During pregnancy blood clots can be extremely dangerous..........even in the sinuses. The swelling of nasal tissue is very common. I am a chronic sinus sufferer and even after having sinus surgery about 6 years ago I still have a trerrible time during pregnancy and I am pregnant with #4. My doctor recommend an occasional Sudaphed tablet - but cautiously since it can raise blood pressure. I only take them before bed to help me be more comfy when I sleep. I use saline spray too. I used to think it didn't do anything but the extra moisture really does make them feel better. He also said I can take the new medication Mucinex and it is also safe during pregnancy - but I had a bad reaction to it and it kept me so wired I didn't sleep at all. You can also try some Vicks rub on your chest and keep your head elevated more at night. I know it sucks and it's uncomfortable but you WILL make it through! - mom of 3 with #4 on the way!

Nasal sprays do have ingredients that are transferred to the baby. Check with your doctor.
The only sprays that I used were the saline nose wash.
I was once prescribed a nasal spray during pregnancy, but I was too afraid to use it more than about 3 times during a week. After that, I gave it up.
Some nasal sprays have steriods in them that harm the baby's development.
Be careful what you take. Everything goes to the baby. In my last pregnancy, I didn't even take Tylenol for headaches I was so paranoid.

You should be fine. Nasal spray is often just a light solution of sodium and water.
At your next OB appointment make a list of medications you use. Also ask for a list of whats safe over the counter.

Only your doctor can answer that one honey. I didn't take anything except prenatal when I was pregnant with my children, but everyone is different and has different needs. The best thing would be to talk to your doctor. I don't see what it would hurt.

What I would suggest is going to a doctors website,....like http://www.completewomenscarecenter.com/forms.htm and go to information for pregnant patients..........at the end of there 10 pages is a list of different symptoms and different medications you can safely take for them.......It helped me.....hope it works for you.

Is it just the saline solution? If so, you have nothing to worry about. If it has antihistamines, then you should ask your doctor. Some can be harmful.
