Fatty Girl, that is a good question. I started on a book about my life and it was going very well. I let my sister read what I had so far. I just watched her and I did get the response I wanted for that part. I also got the response I was hoping for when she asked "when are you going to finish. I can't wait to read the rest." Mind you if it was bad she would be the one to tell me. So what I did I tried to get the reader into my world. I make them see people and situations the way I saw them without actually telling them what to think. It was easy for me because I started out from as far back as I could remember. Sad thing is though is that I did it on my computer and it crashed. Everything was lost. I don't even remember how I started it now. So I have to start all over. I would like to see a sample and give you my opinion. Not that I am that good, but I can kind of figure what would hold ones attention. I also would like you to do the same for me. Good Luck and GOD BLESS!!!!!

If you like outlines, start with an outline. Personally I don't like outlines because at the time I'm writing the outline I'm thinking, I'm gonna write about this and this. Then when I actually start writing I totally change my mind and decide to write about something totally different.
Here's your problem - you have too many ideas. You have to decide on one single topic once and for all and stick with it still you finish your book.

Make people feel the same way you do about the characters. You don't need a silly outline, except for 1)character building 2)character demolishing 3)group problem and 4) solution.

make each characters "outline" and be specific to the food they like or how outgoing they are. Make an outline of the story then go back and break it up and make lots of details.

Start with a broad outline and then narrow it to chapter outlines. Then start writing. Warning...it isnt easy! lol
