I want to get an mp3 player for my son. I was thinking about an ipod, but I heard that it will only accept itunes mp3's all the mp3's I already have will not work on it. Is this true? I don't want to be trapped into mp3's that will not work anywhere else but ipods. Also will itunes mp3's be able to be put onto a CD as a regular CD format. If not an ipod, what other brand mp3 player will be good?

Apple has its one encoding and will only work on iPods, however they will play Mp3’s but not WMA (Microsoft).
