I've answered this question elsewhere twice before. Here is a mixture of the two answers:

"Love" isn't a single emotion, it's a meshing of two or more emotions of varying degrees, put together in different combinations by each individual, which change from moment to moment throughout their lifetimes. This definition covers all types of love, not just "perfect" or "true" love.

Each person decides throughout their lifetime at any moment what love is to them whether it is on a conscious level or not; what combination of emotions they should be feeling, how strongly they need to be feeling each of them and how important each of them is. This is why people fall in love with strangers or those they barely know, because those types of people are basically blank slates whom we can convince ourselves meet our criteria. It's also why that we become brokenhearted later (which is almost inevitable) when we get to know them through a closer relationship and discover that they didn't meet our criteria after all, if that ends up being the case.

As a person ages and experiences different things, then their views also change, sometimes slightly and sometimes drastically. So what they attribute as love changes, too. This is why people fall out of love with others, or why their love will develop or grow stronger.

Since we each decide which combination of emotions at any time come together to be love, then it is us that chooses love and not the other why around. You aren't made to fall in love with a certain person, you've chosen to, whether it's a conscious choice or not. We are also each responsible for any "destructive" love we may feel if we include emotions such as jealousy and anger into the combination.

There are all kinds of love and infatuation is one of them. It's more commonly known as "puppy love". People tend to discriminate against it and belittle it because it doesn't fall into the category of what they consider to be "true love" or "perfect love", but it is love nonetheless. The thing about the love known as infatuation is that it tends to be an obsessive and very passionate kind of love, so the one possessing it views the person they are infatuated with through very narrow blinders and the fire of the love burns bright and fast, and in turn dies just as quickly and thoroughly.

if u love someone, u have a very protective feeling towrds them. u care for him/her more than anyone, you think about him/her often and think of any one else in such manner. u r possesive of him/her n dont mind him/her around 24 hours a day. if he/she hides something, you feel so betrayed that the hurt can last fr months. u forgive him/her easily and want to defend him/her in every occasssion. u feel u have an ownership on him/her and he/she has on u. when u two are together, you feel relaxed when u would have been tired, excited when you are going out, comfortable when he/she consoles you and grateful to God for giving him/her to u. he/she might have lots of faults but to you, even the faults are acceptable or likable. Love is the feeling taht generates all these feelings and thoughts.

God is love! He proved it by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on Calvary for the sins of mankind. If they will but believe and receive Him as their own personal Lord and Savior from all their sins, they will have a home in heaven forever.
Jesus Christ Is the One and Only Way To Heaven!

In The Holy Bible, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6. He meant “I am the only way to God the Father and to heaven”, “I am the only truth that you need to know.” and “I am the only spiritual life available to mankind.” In other words, “I am the only true and living God.”
All other so-called gods are false gods. They are not real. They do not exist. Satan creates counterfeit gods, religions and faith in them. They appear to be the genuine articles but they are false. They are phony. They are bogus. No other so-called god has the power to forgive, cleanse and remove all your sins from you to get you to heaven. They don't even claim to.
I pray you will believe this and accept the fact that you are a sinner needing to be saved from your sins (“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23, The Holy Bible.) and accept the fact that the blood Jesus Christ shed for you at Calvary is the only way you can have your sins forgiven, cleansed and removed and is the only way you can get to heaven. I pray you will acknowledge that you are a sinner and ask Jesus Christ to forgive, cleanse and remove all you sins and accept Him into your heart/life to live for Him the rest of your life. (“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” John 1:12, in the Holy Bible.) That is what it means to be born again. (“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3 in The Holy Bible.) Salvation is a free gift. You cannot work for it. You cannot be good enough to earn it. You must, by faith, receive it as a free gift. (“8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast.”) Ephesians 2:8-9.
God loves you and it is not His will that you perish in hell.
(“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” II Peter 3:9 in The Holy bible.)
This is my prayer for you
