He may have left "droppings" on Mr. Moose, but probably just because he was startled when Mr. Moose dropped all those ping pong balls on Captain Kangaroo. Or, maybe from the excitement from getting to nab the carrots. :)

Ping Pong balls. He probably dropped them because they would not really hurt, but annoy. But then again, the good Captain also had ping pong balls dropped on him from time to time.
