Honesty is much more important, although used much less. People tend to be kind instead of honest and true in their feeling and thoughts. A lot of that stems from peoples' reactions to honesty. If you could be honest and not hurt peoples' feelings, that would be best.

Honesty can often be at odds with kindness. And while honesty is often over-valued, kindness is often overlooked.
I would sooner break bread with a liar who knows how to be kind than some ghastly and spiteful paradigm of honesty.
Too many peasants use honesty as an excuse for indulging in petty meanness and spite.

Honesty is more important. The idiots who think it's kinder to lie are delusional. Lying is cruel no matter how you sugar-coat it. It's possible to tell the truth and still be kind even if the truth isn't pretty.
