11/12.
2/3 is equal to 8/12 (multiply top and bottom by 4)
11/12 is greater than 8/12
....or you could convert to decimal...but that takes longer!
Hope that helps!

You can use a calculator, but here's how to do it without:
compare 11 / 12 and 2 / 3
Multiply both by 12, which will not affect the answer (because 12 is positive):
compare ( 11 / 12 ) x 12 and ( 2 / 3 ) x 12
compare 11 and ( 2 / 3 ) x 12
Multiply both by 3:
compare 11 x 3 and ( 2 / 3) x 12 x 3
compare 11 x 3 and 2 x 12
(see how this can be written down directly using cross multiplication)
compare 33 and 24
33 > 24, so 11 / 12 > 2 / 3

Since there are already too many logical answers:
2/3 is actually greater, - how?
Well it all started when 2/3 & 11/12 began arguing - I'm greater than U R, I'm greater than U R said 11/12 from her uppity perch in the big city...2/3 being from a small rural town was upset by this and proceded to feed 11/12 greater than azz to the hogs.
Last anyone heard 2/3 WAS greater than 11/12.

11 over twelve because if you create a common denomenator 2 over three becomes eight over twelve.
2 x 4 8
------- = ---why is it multiplied by 4? ___ x 3=12? 4.
3 x 4 12 if you multiply the bottom by 4 u have to multiply the top also.
so which is greater, 11/12, or 8/12? id say 11/12.
for the genius who said
"You must be an idiot. ", you are really insensitive. some people work at slower paces than others, and may not understand the material. she might even be an elementary schooler..thought about that? Your just the idiot.

The best way to easily tell is to get both fractions common denominators.
The LCM of 12 and 3 = 12
So, multiply 2/3 by 4/4 and get 8/12.
So, we are now compairing 11/12 and 8/12, obviously 11/12 is greater.

OR you can just figure it out in your head if you're not familiar with fractions as most people that don't use them on a regular basis.
Imagine a cherry pie. Now cut the pie into 3 pieces and take 1 piece out. 2/3
Now imagine an apple pie. Cut it into 12 pieces and take one out. 11/12
Now grasshopper... imagine which pie pan still has the most pie left in it?
Math CAN be fun if you imagine it!!
