that's a good question... I suppose you need to consider how humane you want to handle the situation and the cost involved with transplanting them somewhere else. Getting a dog may help, but racoons can carry rabies. so the dog may not be your answer. check with the local humane society to see if they have removal programs.

The absolute best way is to get a large dog.

If that is impossible or too time consuming, you can pickup these fruits everyday off the ground so there is no more food for the racoons to eat.

If that is too tedious, there is one other way, call your local office of the Animal Control (sometimes called Animal Police). You usually can call the NON-emergency line of your local police department and they will refer you too the Animal Control Office who will set up traps and trasport the raccoons to a sealed off, wildlife preserve.

dog ( or chemical repellents ) ( check with a farm supply or feed store - even cities have something like Tractor Supply these days )

aluminum foil on the trees ? maybe metal sheeting ( their claws would penetrate foil with ease ) and what about the fruit on the ground ? does bring back memories of the 1960's aluminum Christmas trees tho ( lol )

You can wrap aluminum around the trunk. That way, they can't climb the tree.
