Federer is going to be an all time great, Sampras was dominant but i hated his style of play. Agassi is probably for me the greatest tennis player. Bjorn Borg is no.2 and Nadal is a phase but he will also be an all time great for being able to show that even Federer has his weaknesses. Safin has the potential to be better than Federer and all of them but he just needs to find his rhythm

That's a real tough one to answer. We can't compare Champions of different Eras - all had distinct class of their own. Borg, Jimmy Connors, John MCenroe, Bjon Borg all had class. In modern times Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi did exceptionaly well and Roger Federer is most probably going to surpass them.
Even though you don't feel the way I do about Roger Federer, but considering his age and the manner in which he has performed on all surfaces and more importantly - the manner in which he has carried himself and the success on his shoulders - speaks a great deal about him. Undisputably right at the Top.

For best player, I'd have to say Sampras. Other greats include Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe, Ivan Lendl, Bjorn Borg, Andre Agassi.
I'd go with McEnroe as my favorite. I like his style of play, and think he's funny, although he did go overboard sometimes and was just plane rude.
On the womens side, no doubt the best is Steffi Graf, with honorable mention to Martina Navratilove and Chris Evert.

The best right now is Roger Federer. He has an all around game. As far as favorite goes, I love Gustavo Kuerten. Too bad he's not the same after the hip surgery. Love you Guga!

I agree I like Gonzalez as well, I mean where does he get his energy he never seems to run out of it. I think his forehand is phenomenal and he has great touch as well definitely a bright prospect of the future.

My favorite is Chris Evert. I came of age about the time she won her first Wimbledon title. Back then, it was not considered fit and proper for girls to compete in sports and Chris made it acceptable. She was always very feminine in her court attire and manners, her hair was always neatly groomed and wore tasteful simple jewelry. She dispelled the myth that women who were successful at sports were lesbian or too manly.

I think Borg was the greatest of all time but he didn't hang around long enough to achieve legendary numbers. I think it's cool that you brought up Gonzalez though.
