I'm applying to Ross this year and I anticipate getting in (MCAT=32).

But if you want to cardiothoracic surgery, Ross is not a good place for you. Why? Because you're gonna have trouble getting into a cardiothoracic surgery residency. As it is, to qualify for those residency matches, you need to be in >94% percentile on the boards.

And you're being specific about WHERE you want to go. SD is competitive, and I presume you'd like a spot at UCSD's teaching hospital. With a degree from Ross, you will have to fight very hard to get in there.

Me, I just want to do family med, primary care and infectious dieases. Those are not tough programs and they are actively looknig for people. So if I have a degree from Ross, it's no big deal. I also want to do rural med. My family is in Bakersfield; lots of the med residents there came from Ross and St. George's.
