Every kid drinks by at least 16, you used to be an adult at 18, but this gay law makes it 21. WTF is that. Politicians get angry at young people for voting but they refuse to give these people equal rights.

Hey I hate drinking and driving just as much as the next person, but what does age have to do with it? Plenty of old people kill people in accidents because they drink and drive as well as other reasons like alzheimers but they get to drink.

Sorry king stubborn Excuse me, every kid who is not a loser in high school drinks by 16, im sorry you dont have any balls. And f**k respecting the law, how bout doing what is right whether it is against the law or not. In the 1950s it was against the law for blacks to sit down on a bus if a white person didnt have a seat but rosa parks broke that law, she is a hero. Thanks for the complement about me being so 1980s, that was a great time much better than this GAY era. The early 80s were the last time 18 year olds had the right to drink legally until it was outlawed in 84. And by the way im 38 years old so i can buy booze, i just believe in giving 18-20 year olds the same rights as everyone else. I remember this law pissed me off when i was that age.

BLoodhound. You just want to make the world a boring place where people cant make decisions for themselves. SO what if they drink a lot its none of your business. And you think its worse to drink than to go to war and kill someone. And not all people in their 20s are irresponsible. There are people who are irresponsible at age 50 but just because they are old they think they are better.

Heather Age has nothing to do with how much you will drink. this gay law doesnt stop these people from drinking, it just encourages more drinking in rebellion and driving home to escape the cops. People will drink w/ or w/out the law. and i can drink, im 38, but i unlike care you, care about people other than myself. And it has plenty of good effects as well, red wine helps to prevent heart disease.

lynn, it was not a short time, it was after prohibition until 84, over 40 years that 18-20 had a right to drink. the law against it has been in existance only 22 years so dont be such an ignorant know it all.

Hey access denyed, i don't care about the stupid frontal lobe, everyone breaks that law so why have it. In nearly every other country (Jamaica, Mexico, Canada etc.) the age is 18 and in many others its lower.

The generations born before 1964 were all allowed to drink at that age and they turned out fine, so why can't the next generation drink at that age?!

Can't smoke. Can't drink. Yet they can draft you the minute you turn 18, and it's after the service that you actually want to drink, no offense to those who served.

The consuming age and the CHOICE to become a member of the army don't have anything in usual. Being within the army is a role, identical as another. Plenty of occupations have unsafe running stipulations. Cops and firefighters hazard their lives at paintings, too. Should the consuming age be reduced for them? Miners have unsafe jobs, so do jail guards. Hell, is not crab fishing essentially the most unsafe process on the earth or whatever? Should the ones men be in a position to drink underneath 21, too? The simplest men and women who wish the consuming age underneath 21 and the ones underneath 21.

Whats the gay law got to do with it? It's been like this for generations! For a short time WI had it 18 but the kids couldn't handle it and that's when they were more mature so it went back up to to 21. Politicians only get mad at young people for not voting when it's their party and if your attitude it to use not voting as revenge then you really aren't mature enough to drink!!

Why should they? The frontal lobe of the brain (which handles, in part, judgement) doesn't fully develop until age 25. This means that, even at age 21, young people are not able to make fully rational decisions all the time. Obviously one should be able to make and educated, rational decision about alcohol consumption. Furthermore, not only does alcohol further impair that ability, it hinders the development of the brain and the liver.
By the way, I'm only 18 myself (college freshman, psych major), so don't try to accuse me of pulling rank on this one.

Because the death rate and accident rate of teens and early 20 year olds is high enough!
Binge drinking can bring on meningitis.
There is not enough self control.
It causes liver damage and premature aging no matter what age you are.
It destroys brain cells that do not repair themselves.
When you drink you make stupid decisions that you will regret, if not now....later.
You are more likely to be in risky sexual situations that hold financial & moral conflict. Not to mention all the diseases out there.
Why do you want to drink so bad?
Are you so unimaginative that you can't have fun being sober?

The law can be changed, but you would have to get petitions signed to have it put on a ballot, and then get enough votes to win.
"Every" kid does not drink by 16, as I didn't and my family owned bars and party stores as I grew up. Kids who do not respect law and themselves drink by 16.
And "gay" as an insult is so 1980s.
No one has a right to drink alcohol, so it is not an equal "rights" issue...it is, perhaps, an equal privilege.

Lordy, Lordy, give you equal rights?? LIsten to you. Listen to the tone of your question.......Grow up.
I work in a package liquor store and watch young people = 20 to 25 drink themselves under the table every single weekend. I watch them come into the store and make complete fools of themselves and then eat their abuse when I refuse to sell them MORE alcohol. Which is the law and my right. Just doing my job.
Again I say find a new hobby or grow up!!!!

Politicians get angry at young people for voting?
The entire electorate picked the people who made those laws, including those 18 year olds who voted.
Meantime, work on your driving skills.

because age 16 people are to young to drink responsibly. and you are not of equal age to get your rights until your 18. so technically they don't have to give them rights just yet. and there is a certain thing that i don't think is right.....that you have to be 21 you are right on that one. these people do have rights as long as they are over 18

they changed it to 21 because too many stupid 18 y/o high school kids were buying beer for their 16 year old friends, and then the stupid kids were drinking and driving, and killing other people. act responsible, get responsibilities.
