Bomb their nuke plants

I feel the question you're being asked is biased.
There's nothing that can be done; it's too late. Sending ground troops would be a pointless disaster and China would never allow it anyway, and the U.S. has enough on its hands already.
The question should rather be: Now that North Korea is becoming a nuclear power, how can we live with it?
Nuclear weapons do one thing: They put negotiators on the table. We can no longer treat North Korea as a regime we can do whatever we want with. If we want something, we have to talk to them, because force has become meaningless.
The solution for security in that region would be to encourage democratic movements in the country while respecting the sovereignty of North Korea. Since Kim il Jong keeps such a tight grip on the country, in practical terms, it means we can do next to nothing; accept North Korean refugees and give them asylum, perhaps help expatriate efforts to bring news of the outside world to their countrymen... Not much else.
The idea that America was there to police the world has already proven catastrophic. In cases like this, it's better to at least not make problems worse by interfering like an elephant in a China shop.
And for all those who think force is the answer and we can just blast our way in there, North Korea has over 20 times the army Saddam had. Plus possibly other nukes. So calm down, cowboys.

Ending the NK nuclear program is easy.

NK would not exist if China did not support them and feed them.

The economy in China would implode if US consumers did not buy their products.

All we need to do is tell China that we are implementing a tariff on all Chinese made goods. The tariff starts out immediately as a 25 percent increase on any existing tariffs. Then for every week that NK does not disarm and completely dismantle their nuclear program the tariff will increase another 25 percent. Whatever level the tariffs reach will be the minimum level imposed by the USA for imports from China for the next 50 years. Any nuclear bomb tests in NK would result in an immediate doubling of the existing level of tariffs.

China would simply tell the North Koreans that the program must stop and it would be done.

I have to add this after reading some of the other replies:
The reason we cannot allow NK to have nuclear bombs is that they have a proven record of selling their weapons to terrorists. If you want to experience an entire state in the US being destroyed with a nuke just keep thinking it is okay for them to have the bomb. For those who say this is about energy, where were you when every news agency in America reported that NK tested a nuclear bomb? Their nuke program is for making weapons, not power to heat homes.

By sanctions. If they have a problem with that there is nothing they can do. We should NOT use force. The North Koreans arent very smart people and if we used force they would probably just nuke S Korea or something. Which in turn would lead to somebody else (probably president "I think im a badass" Bush) bombing them and a bunch of innocent lives will be lost in the end.

When Clinton was in power he made a pact with an energy starved N. Korea to shut down their nuclear reactors in exchange for some of the oil the US has been stockpiling for decades. N. Koreans are in a situation where they can't heat their homes in winter and can't turn on their lights in the summer.

Bush came into power and said that the pact was made illegally and that it was null and void. He litterally had ships with oil turn around and come back to the US. This violated an agreement we had with N. Korea. Kim Jong Il requested that the US come to N. Korea for Bilateral talks. The US refused saying that it would not negotiate with terrorists (this was long before they turned back on the nuclear reactors, threw out the UN and blew up any nukes).

The US recomended that S. Korea, Russia, China and Japan speak with N. Korea because it was their problem. (not in those words) Basically S. Korea needed to talk to them because they are neighbors and have a lot of tension. China because they are allies. Japan because they are enemies and there is always the threat of N. Korea attacking Japan. And Russia because they are a large nuclear power and have long supplied N. Korea with technology to develope their nuclear program. N. Korea refused the talks saying that they would only talk to the US.

When the US refused again N. Korea kicked the UN saftey inspectors out of their nuclear reactors and started them up again. This produced the needed plutonium to build a nuclear weapon. Still the US would not talk to them. A couple years later N. Korea fired an narmed missle over Japan to prove that it could fire on Japan if it produced nuclear weapons. And recently they detonated a nuclear bomb underground.

N. Korea has been called the starving wolf because they need energy. They are going to produce it with clean efficient nuclear technology. And since they are getting trade embargoes on their country now they are going to develope WMDs as a method of defending themselves against those who are now stopping their ability to support themselves.

As for what is the answer to it? I am not going to say that all the world's issues can be solved with words. But all they have ever asked for is one on one talks with the US. And the US won't do it. Maybe that is a start.

They have as much right to nuclear arms as any other country in the world. What makes it right for some countries to have the bomb and not others? Just because the US doesn't like it doesn't make it wrong for anyone else.

There is no way. Once they will be they will know it is not the answer to any thing. Except attention and respect from other nuclear nations.
Remember, saving face is top importance to orientals.

we can't....end of story....just as no other country is coming into the USA and telling us to turn off our nuclear power plants.... unfortunately the only solution is to drop the bomb on them then that only starts a nuclear war....
