i believe they do we the people have lost control of something the forefathers intended for us to use and that was do for us as a country of freedom it was not intended to be a huge self controling entity as it has become over the past 200yrs politics is supposed to be based on whats good for the country and its people not whats good for the politican and not to determine how much money he can make off of the special intrest groups who feel the need to influence government and those who r involved in government however we do have the power to change government and those who represent us but we must use that powerand not be influenced by special intrest groups and others like them

Not according the the elections for the past few years.. They were tired of the constant nibbling at their rights and freedoms for 40 years.
Something must be going right as the unemployment is at an all time low, taxes are leaving people with money to invest in their future, capital for business expansion, stocks are at an all time high, people are working rather than collecting welfare generation after generation, and happy because of it. They now have a feeling of self pride again. Do I need to go on?

Somewhat. Some of us feel the government interfers too much into our personal lives. Not so much the large govt, but the local govt. If one doesnt follow rules to what most of society feels is right and wrong, then agencies like Child Protection Agency, or police will, and have come to peoples doors, frightened them with threats, etc to cause fear in people to act as government agents believe they should, such as smoking in your own home. My son fell down at his grandmas visiting, I wasnt even there, next thing I know a teacher calls CPA to investigate me. I had a written statement from neighbors of my mother, but CPA refused to look at it, and kept a record of me having had hit my son. I feel we are on the brink of communism, sometimes, and it's quite scary. By the way, these agents are trained to frighten citizens, and it is because of the liberal party.
Yes, I feel powerless, I had statements, evidence to prove myself innocent, but it didnt matter to them. What can a person do if their evidence cannot help them? The system is unfair.

Not the system, the politicians. We have alot of power to do something about it. We vote in two weeks and we can also have a person removed from office. It sounds crazy in the US, but that is just the machine in motion.
