Obviously you don't play the guitar yourself, or your list would look very different. Good to see so many Brits in your list, though you do seem to fixate purely on electric lead guitarists. Try this;
John Williams
Segovia
Ritchie Blackmore
Jimmy Page
Carlos Santana
Eric Clapton
Slash
Johnny Marr (Ex-Smiths, not to be confused with John 'St Elmo's fire' Parr)
Duane Eddy
John Lee Hooker.
Just 10 but life's too short.

Dude, any list without Stevie Ray Vaughan is completely useless.
Also where's Mark Knopfler? Ritchie Blackmore? B. B. king?
Also Carlos Santana ?(thanks Chu' for reminding)
Also Angus Young doesn't belong here. Love AC/DC, but Angus is no guitar genius.
Kurt Cobain the best? You've got to be kidding me!
Also in IMO Peter Green should be on the list though he is not as flashy as Hendrix or Clapton.
Duane Alman would be there if he had not died so young.

Wow! I agree, Stevie Ray Vaughn is like a no brainer, easily in the top 3 of anyone's list. He was the guitarist every other great guitarist wished they could play like. Poor mark Knophler is always ignored because his style is subtle yet he is revered by musicians as being a master. FYI, If you ever see Pete Townshend live you will throw him in the top 10 because the man can still blow everyone away at 60 years of age.

Wow, did you just post 20 guitarists just for show? I doubt you even answered your own question with that list...
1) Jimi Hendrix (Star-Spangled Banner...that's all I have to say.)
2) Jimmy Page (Heartbreaker solo, first introduced the true double tap. Find White Summer/Black Mountain Side, that song shows his acoustic skills.)
3) Eddie Van Halen (Revolutionized how to play the guitar, used phasers and synths that hadn't been thought of e.g. Eruption, Mean Street, Pretty Woman Intro and Atomic Punk.)
4) Stevie Ray Vaughan (Rhythmic genius, didn't double tap, and really didn't have to. Find Texas Flood, you'll know why.)
5) Eric Clapton (In the R&R HOF with Yardbirds, Cream, Derek and the Dominoes, and solo.)
6) Randy Rhoads (With Quiet Riot first...didn't play the solo to *** on Feel The Noize though, but then moved to the infamous Crazy Train solo, amazing.)
7) David Gilmour (Another rhythm guitarist, great songs are Another Brick in the Wall Pt.2, Comfortably Numb, and Time.)
8) Joe Satriani (Satch Boogie is a good song, as well as his duet with Frank Zappa in My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama.)
9) Slash (November Rain might be his best, but listen to Paradise City. Better guitar solo I think.)
10) Kirk Hammet (I agree with you there, his notable songs are One and Master of Puppets.)
11) Steve Vai (The only reason I put him this low is because he doesn't showcase much of his talent in studio-recorded songs. When you hear him play however, WOW.)
12) Tony Iommi (Distorted sound from Iron Man...without that in music, where would our current hard rock songs be?)
13) Ritchie Blackmore (Highway Star was pure adrenaline. Once you hear that solo, it makes you want to work out...)
14) Eric Johnson (He's also kinda underrated, but still people know Cliffs of Dover as his defining work.)
15) Alex Lifeson (Underrated Rush guitarist. Listen to Working Man or Spirit of Radio to understand why.)
16) Duane Allman (Allman Brothers music was insane. Blue Sky is a great song to showcase his dual guitar with Dickey Betts.)
17) Ted Nugent (Motor City Madman...Strangle Hold's solo is what, 3 1/2 minutes long?)
18) Jeff Beck (Not to be confused with the Beck who sang Loser. Listen to Cause We've Ended As Lovers.)
19) Glenn Tipton (Judas Priest guitarist, You Got Another Thing Coming had a great guitar solo, as well as Beyond The Realms of Death)
20) Angus Young (Thunderstruck was just double-tapping for almost 3 minutes straight. That's pretty tough.)
