Because you have to take birth control for medical reasons you will most likely get a strong doseage of hormones. Some of the side effects can be weight gian, increase of bust size, facial hair, mood swings, and pimples.
But don't worry you will not be on this birth control forever. Ask your doctor what time period he has in mind for you. A couple of my friends went through this and they ae no longer on the birth control pill. The length of time my friends were on the pill for was 6 months -1 year.
FYI, ask your doctor if eating organic food may help. With all the hormones in our meats and chicken, it may be harmful to digest these hormones.

I went through the same thing a couple of years ago. It depends on what type of birth control the doc puts you on. Mine gave me the low estrogen kind & I think it was called lo ovral or something. The weight you possibly gain is just water weight. If you dont take the birth control the cyst can rupture & I am talking major pain !!! I was pregnant & a cyst ruptured my right fallopian tube & I almost died & the baby did die. I would rather gain weight from a birth control pill that go through what I did ! They had to do emergency major surgery & it took months to recover & I still aint over the pain of the baby dying & that happened to me in 1998. So please take the pills the doc gives you & God bless !!!

The pills might make you gain a few pounds.
What the doctor is hoping they will do is shrink the cysts on your ovaries. If that happens, you may be able to stop taking the pills.
Females who are overweight tend to develop ovarian cysts, so if you are overweight losing some of it might help as well.

The same thing happened to me at your age and granted it was 16 years ago, so the pills are likely very different now, but I didn't have any bad side effects, the best part was it took away the pain from the cysts and made my periods as regular as clockwork.

When I started Birth control I gained a little weight, but not much. Also sometimes you might feel a little sick to your stomach when starting cause your body has to adjust to the change. But it should help your ovaries. Good Luck.

I am on Ortho Evra. It's a patch instead of a pill. It doesn't make you gain weight. I'm on it solely for the purpose of regulating my periods. It helps with that a lot too. I don't have any side effects. Hopefully this helps. Best of luck to you.

Unfortunately it is very varied. Some people have no problems with it. Some have anything from increased acne, less acne, no periods, break thought bleeding between periods, weight gain, pulmonary embolism, (more common in women over 35) hormones in over drive make you a lunatic especially 2 weeks before your period.
