At 5'7, you're gonna' need to work on ballhandling and quickness. You'll end up on point or 2 guard, your rebounding and shooting help, but likely, your size dictates your position. I think your ready because it's up to you, on a daily basis to get better, stronger and faster. If you've got the heart, you can overcome all other aspects! No one can stop you but you!!! Good hoops to ya'!!

i think ull be one of the post players if uve got strong D and can reboound well. If u know for a fact that u wont be in the post then just dribble a ball everywhere u go.. there has got to be some outdoor courts where u live, run to the court while dribblling the ball then dribble the ball with only ur left, then only ur right. if u dont make the team, it doesnt really matter, ur only in grade 8 and have 4 more years to get on a bball team

you have a good height for your age so you don't need to worry too much about ballhandling. But you should try to improve. as for conditioning you should get better at that so you'll still bring your a-game when the 4th quarter comes around. but if you get better at those things i think you're ready.

It's good that you have shooting, defense, and rebounding on your side, but you have to develope your ballhandling and conditioning to have any chance! Especially CONDITIONING! Because if you're not in good shape you can't shoot during a game, you can't jump, taking the rebounding outta your arsenal, and you can't keep up on defense! Ballhandling you need because you may get stuck in a spot where you need to get outta trouble, if you can't....turnover....So to answer your question no you don't really have a good chance, a chance, but not a good one, you're lacking conditioning you need that! But good luck on trying out man I hope you make it! I play basketball seriously as well and it's one heck of a sport! It's my life!

If you can dribble to either side and create your own shot , consider yourself on the team. Coaches like defense. If you can stand toe to toe with the ball handler, coaches will notice you. First and for most, work on a dribble ,stop jumper from about 15 feet, if you can hit that six out of ten times, your on the team for sure. Take if from a basketball coach..practice these skills that uniform is yours.

Go for it! The ball handling will come as you work on it - as will the conditioning. And just so you know - next year you need to be READY at the beginning of the season.
