YOUR GOING TO HAVE TO SPLIT THEM APART.

I am sorry to have to say this, but you may have to return one of them :( You see, if the hamsters weren't raised together from birth or the earlier weeks/months of their lives, they might not like each other so well. That is why it is a bad idea to intorduce a new hamster to another hamster who is used to living with a hamster she knows or living alone. This is why you should only do this if you are a breeder who knows what they're doin! Hope I helped.

Hi you should not keep two siberian hamsters together as they can & will fight to the death...breeders use a piece of cardboard when trying to mate the hamsters to stop them from fighting after they have mated...so no time is a good time I guess for a hamster to have company unless they are the tiny russian hamsters & they will live happy together...Remove the hamster & buy yourself another cage coz it's not going to work believe me...Regards jake http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PetsSecondChance

You are going to have to split them apart. It is never a good idea to get another one once you had one for a while. The hamster will attack it all the time. It would have been better to get them both at the same time because then they would have most likely been from the same litter.

yeah sorry unless they were litter mates and grew up together they can not be in the same cage. hamsters are solitary animals (except for some kinds). and even if they were litter mates you can only keep them in the same cage together until they reach a certain age and then they start to fight and beat each other. then they kill them and eat them. then you wake up to a hamster with no head. and your day is pretty much shot.

Good luck. We had 2 hamsters from different litters and finally had to seperate them and give them each their own cage. The pet store said that often they can't get along if they weren't litter mates. Hope someone else can provide a solution for you.

well first of all this is the same with every pet........did you put the new hamster in the same cage that you already had your girl hamster in? if so then your female hamster is feeling very protective and tedrritorial...........put them both in a cage they have never been in before so its neither ones territor, this way your girl hamster should feel more comfortable with the environment.

Get them seperate cages. Hamsters are loners (except during mating). You put two hamsters together they are going to fight

Mmm......Hamsters are solitary animals unless they have always been with other hamsters and are used to it, like my hamsters. But since your hamsters haven't been bred with other hamsters, they won't get used to it and you will need to separate them immediatly before they hurt eachother.

As people have said above, Hamsters are not social creatures.....Gerbils are much better if you plan to have more than 1.
Good luck.

Sorry but you can't. Hamsters just are not social creatures. If you leave them together they will fight to the death.
