12 * P = 72 Then you divide both sides by 12

12/12 * P = 72/12

P= 600/1

A better way to state this is 12% of what is $72.

So, .12 x N = 72
Divide by .12
N=600
So, his paycheck is $600

12% is equal to 12/100 = 0.12. If Enrique's paycheck is set equal to x, then 0.12x = $72, so x = $72/0.12 = $600.

12%=.12
.12X=72
X=600.

His paycheck was 600 bucks. Move the decimal two places to the left and then it's a simple algebra problem.
