I hate rap not because i'm racist but because it is unitelligent, degrading, and it is only used to make one person feel beter and greater then someone else. All rappers talk about is Making Money, having Hoes, being rich and better than everyone else, being unfaitful and many more just plain out stupid things. Not to mention almost ALL rappers exploit and degrade women and its bothersome that women who listen to this music just take it because that want money or some stupid crap like that, Rap is disrespectful, annouying, and pretty damn explicit. Why is it that rappers can get away with talking about busting caps, and having sex with hoes but rock music is the on that is violent and evil? .................................................................

I like some rap. Something that comes with almost all rap songs is a catchy beat, it's usually addictive. What I don't like is the vapid nature of a lot of the lyrics I hear. Most of the time it's the same repetitive crap, some guy on an ego trip talking about how amazing he is, how he gets all the money, and all the other crticisms you've heard before. Being realistic, it's understandable...it's what works, it's what sells...throwing out something with real depth tends to be unpopular. Most popular music tends to be empty bullshit. (this extends to any genre) I do think that it takes less talent to make it big in rap than it does to in rock. The beats are usually synthesized and simple, and the lyrics tend to be empty. (repeating myself here) Few rational people could objectively hate rap. Assuming that the innate reason why (particularly white) people dislike rap is due to racism is a bit of a stretch. If anyone hates music because of the color of the skin of the person who's providing it, the idiot's not worth getting worked up about, anyway.

Saying "because they're emo" can be a reason. Some people don't like emo music. Lyrically and musically (in particular vocals). I'm not a hater, but I'm not a fan really. There a couple songs I can tolerate. But I find usually those are the reason. The lyrics aren't that spectacular and I prefer a different style of music.

I used to listen to alot of rap, back when I was in high school. That's back when rap was just beginning, and hardly anyone listened to it. It was good, back then, because not everyone rapped about the same thing. Also, the rappers weren't a bunch of thugs who tried to kill each other. Probably one of the main things I hate about rap is how all of the white kids are now trying to act like they are black. It seems that anyone can cut a rap record, these days, and the majority of the people making records aren't that good. Rap became too commercialized, and it got ruined.

i don't like rap because i think that it is overrated. all i see on channels that play music videos is rap. there are plenty of other types of music that they could play also that are very good. i am not saying that i HATE rap, in fact, i think that it is cool how far rap has came since it first became popular. i am also not saying that mtv,vh1, and all the other music channels should stop playing rap altogether, but that they should also play other types of music. i do not hate black people, or black people that have money, either. can't some people just prefer another type of music without having someone ask something like this? who cares if some people say that they hate rap and black people. everyone has their own opinion.

Well I'm not a big fan of rap, but I do like some rap. Yeah, I will say that I hate about 90 percent of the rap songs that are currently out. But I love rap songs from artists such as Eminem, Ja Rule, and Nelly. And I like some rap songs from this year too such as "ridin" by chamillionaire and I like "so fly" by nb ridaz. But I think that most rap artists that are coming out now, just rap with no catchy choruses like the old rap songs from a few years back and they just don't have the talent like some rappers do. Sorry for those that love rap and for anyone who disagrees with me, but that's what I think. When we get more rap songs- if we do- that have good background music and good melodies then I will listen to more rap. Like Usher "Yeah" was a good rap and hip-hop song. And Nelly "Shake ya Tailfeather" and DMX's "Party up". You know, more rap and hip-hop songs that you can actually dance to.

I " dislike " rap because it all sounds the same. It is predictable and It all has the same beat and most seems to include the "N" word which is supposed to be offensive yet it is used about a hundred times in each song.
Todays music is crap. Rap and rock. It is so predictable.
PM Dawn was a rap group that I really liked because their music was fresh and unpredictable. Why can't it be like that now?

I just don't find it pleasing to my ear for the most part. I do like some rap...Outkast and Kanye West, some old DMX, and when I'm at the club, I like anything that has a beat-
I do not own a rap cd, nor will I ever. I enjoy music that tells a story, musically as well as lyrically, and you just don't get that with rap.

I don't really hate any form of music, except maybe polka :)
But one element of rap that bothers me is the subject matter. And believe me, this is now in just about every form of pop today, so it's not limited to rap. The glorification of money & jewelry & cars & sex w/ whoever whenever... & these are "artists" that start @ a really young age, too. I just think it's sad that they are brought up to to really feel that these things are the secret of a happy successful life. To me that's not keepin' it real, it's keepin' it fake.
BUT... there are also some rap artists & songs I love, too, so I guess it just depends on the subjects. peace

When I was a kid, a long time ago, my parents hated my music, I think it is the same for rap, I don't like it myself, but I don't hate it, I think it for people younger than myself, I bet a lot of people would hate my music taste which runs from classic to jazz and some old rock.
