My memory of Blood Omen is starting to fade after all these years, but this is what I remember:
Kain wishes to defeat the Nemesis, originally called Wiliam the Just. As a thank you for returning his daughters soul, King Ottmar agrees to fight the Nemesis in battle alongside Kain.
During the battle with the Nemesis, King Ottmar is slain and his army is blatantly losing the battle. Kain manages to find a time streaming device hidden on the battle field. Kain expresses his feelings of suspicion over finding a device that allows him to escape so conveniently left where he would find it, like it was left there intentionally for him to find.
About to be attacked by the soldiers of the Nemesis, Kain has no choice but to activate the device. It transports him 50 years into the past. The war-ravaged fields and burnt out villages are restored to their original thriving self.
Battles inside the now busy castle, filled with guards. Kain realises that the Nemesis will only be a young man, still William the Just, untainted by greed and power. Therefore, Kain has the idea to kill William now while he is weak and prevent the war in the future.
Before we meet William, we see an FMV sequence of Mobius talking to him. William appears to be quite a pleasant, but unsure young king. Mobius seems to be confident and reassuring to the young man who is eager to do the right thing for his people. My memory of the conversation is poor, but believe Mobius basically says that he has left a sword called a Soul Reaver as a present for the new king. He disappears, leaving William alone.
THIS NEXT EVENT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO THE ENTIRE SERIES
Kain fights William. They both possess Soul Reavers. William attacks Kain with the Soul Reaver but Kain ultimately defeats him. William the Just is dead.
(If you have played Soul Reaver 2, the conversation between Kain and Raziel in the tomb of William the Just is about this event. The body is of William the Just. The fact that there were two Soul Reavers allows the event in the cut scene to take place).
Kain then returns to his own time (50 years ahead). As he does, he discovers with horror what has happened. Mobius is on the steps of a castle with a mob of angry screaming villagers (torches, pitchforks etc) and he is inciting the villagers with an anti-vampire speech. Mobius claims that vampres are evil and must be destroyed. The angry mob agree.
What happened was that by Kain going back in time and killing William the Just (who was young and kind still back then), the villagers saw that a vampire killed their king and have been working to exterminate vampires ever since. The vampire exterminations had been going on for 50 years by the time Kain gets back. As such, there is only he and Vorador left.
Near the end of the cut scene, we see Vorador on a platform with his head in a guillotine for a public execution. The guillotine drops and Vorador is killed. Mobius lifts up Voradors head to the cheering crowd. Then, Mobius sees Kain, now the last vampire in existence, and orders the mob to kill him.
Kain kills them and goes to fight Mobius, who summons a demon each from the past, present and future (the future version looks just like Kain, by the way). Kain ultimately defeats them all. A cut scene appears in which Mobius is lying on the ground, defeated. "I have seen the future, Kain. You're not in it." Mobius then mentons something about death. Kain replies "But I am dead, as are you," and then lops off Mobius's head with his sword.
With this last artifact, Kain returns to the pillars. There, he sees Mortanius havng an argument with another circle member (can't remeber who. Basically, the one remaining member we haven't met in the game). I forget what they are arguing about. I think it is about sacrificing themselves for the good of the pillars. Anyway, Mortanius disagrees and kills the circle member with magic, telekinetically snapping his opponents bones (quite nasty really).
Kain approaches him. Mortanius acknowledges that he needs to die to save the pillar but he says that Kain will have to fight him for his life. Kain figts him and wins.
After the fight, Mortanius transforms into a massive red horned creature. This creature explains that he has been controlling Mortanius all along. The creature explains that he killed Ariel to unset the balance of the pillars, and that Kain is merely a pawn in a much larger scheme. (In the series, we refer to this character as Hash 'ak 'gik, although I'm not sure if the creature expressly says that this is its name in Blood Omen).
In Avernus cathedral, a secret chamber can be found dedicated to this being. I believe it is also in here that Malek's skeleton can be seen hanging from the chains (as in the opening FMV).
Kain fights and beats the creature, Ariel presents him with two options: Kill himself and save Nosgoth, or rule and be damned. The canonical ending is that he rules Nosgoth and does not sacrifice himself, ths leading on to Blood Omen 2.
If you have played all of the games, then I won't be spoiling anything for you, so I'll explain the ending more clearly. At the time, we knew nothing of Hylden or really what the pillars are all about.
Hash 'ak 'gik is not technically an entity itself. Merely a name given to a being that the humans worship. You see, physically, Hash 'ak 'gik is Turel, kept at the bottom of Avernus cathedral (which explains the altar of worship to him). However, he is being possessed by Hylden. The humans think that this entity is a god called Hash 'ak 'gik. Turel expresses to Raziel his contempt and confusion of constantly being called Hash 'ak 'gik. In reality, it is the Hylden who are workng to break the pillars to destroy the barriers that will allow them to return. This is why they keep possessing people (like Mortanius to kill Ariel).
So, in short, Mortanius was being possessed by the Hylden. They themselves do not refer to themselves as Hash (or so I believe).
Mortanius turned into a generic big red demon after being defeated, not Turel himself. The demon who said he was controlling Mortanius was referring to his Hylden people in general.
It has been inferred that the Hylden are technically not the bad guys, seeing as they are only trying to go back to a land they were banished from by the vampires because they would not worship the vampire god.
Any more question on LOK, ask me because I am a major fan.

it's completely free and it's very fast to install
This game is based on the 'Shoot first, ask questions later' philosophy. How you play it depends on the character that you choose, as each of them has different abilities and magic powers.
It's a must have game.
