i do know that 2O YEARS AGO when i was unfortunate to work there that they played a game calles football and never played with their hands.VERY FUNNY ALLTHE DISGUISES they had. do they still play this silly game for girlies?

We call it football here because a long time ago, we got bored of a game where you can't use your hands and arms and where physical contact was discouraged and we called it football because it had some of the same basic rules of football. Much like how we call our Napa Valley wines "Wine" or how we call anything you frogs invented and we improved on the name we found it as.
BTW, I took 2 years of high school French.

Football rules. Soccer isn't bad either. Its the people that don't know how to spell either that are the problem. Football doesn't have a U in it... and you are way off with your spelling of Soccer. I mean Futbol... how did you get that from the word Soccer.

We still play football...but we changed the name to soccer so you Europeans wouldn't get confused. In America football is considered one of the nations favorite, most popular pastimes...soccer is played but not nearly as much as football is.And it's not nearly as popular.

Ahhh..we sure do..at all ages and sexes..straight..gay..girls and boys of all ages..we love to tackle and get each other all dirty and sweaty in public and not be arrested for it! Lots of groping in the name of stripping the ball from the runner! We wear unifirms so tight..there is nothing left to the imagination. We wear college sweatshirts and jeans. And some of us uncouth Americans even go topless! God! I love this game!!!!
