my dell laptop arrived a few days ago and it has xp on it but i just found out about the vista, is anyone in the same situation? Would dell be nice enough to upgrade for me?
Or would refunding be worth it and re-buying it again.?

Don't get the new operating system right away. Wait at least 6 months for the first service pack.

I just bought a Dell but didn't receive it yet. I was debating on waiting for Vista to come out. I decided not to wait. XP has been around for a while. I'm sure the bugs have been worked out of it. Vista will take at least 6 months for the bugs to be worked out. Plus, what is Vista gonna do that I can't do on XP?

BTW, Dell won't refund you any money.

Microsoft just announced a plan where they will offer upgrades for people who buy laptops and PC's with XP who want Vista. Depending on the manufacturer, the upgrade will either be free or at a discount. I've only just heard about this today, so I don't have very many details or if yours would be covered. My best advice would be to contact Dell and see if you would be covered.

right it is a rule of thumb which you as a customer ought to stay with the help of....wait till human beings discover out how properly some thing works till you purchase it. Microsoft Vista seems very acceptable to the attention. yet while it includes the protection of your pc and information there has no longer been lots ideas accessible yet with looking the bugs in Vista. If i've got been you i might persist with Microsoft XP and wait till 9mths to 1year formerly upgrading. Wait till all the kinks are out. persist with XP on the instant and are not getting a dell workstation. go get an HP they hardly replace their hardware and are very sturdy products of equiptment
