hello, I own a 1995 Nissan Altima and I am not sure which dipstick is motor oil, there is one that has a yellow handle (I suspect this is transmission fluid) that is in the center of the compartment just in front of the engine and behind the radiator, the other is red and just to the left of the battery. Im pretty sure that the red one is oil, but with my car "pretty sure" just doesent cut the mustard for me, lol.

I think you've got them mixed-up.
1. Yellow is usually oil.
2. 1996 Altima engine is setup exactly as you describe in your 95, and yellow in middle is oil, red by battery is tranny.
3. Trust your eyes. Oil can be golden yellow to filthy black (but hopefully not), Tranny fluid is pinky (never black or yellow).
