do i need some kind of wireless router?

wired or wireless will work just fine. if you go wireless you need to make sure you have a wireless card for the other computer.

A router allows you to share your DSL service with multiple computers- most have 4 ports , so up to 4 computers could be plugged in using a regular network cable. You don't need a wireless router unless you have a machine which already has a wireless card installed. A regular old router will do fine...

You will need a wireless router and a USB wireless adaptor unless the other pc has a wireless adaptor built in.

yes, it's called a network.. routers are for wireless connections (laptops)...
