Yes, usually, call a good farrier, one that specialized in hoof repair, call a vet and ask if they reccomend anyone. Not all farriers are good a corrective care. You need to do this right away, bad hooves can lead to many more problems, including weight loss, aggression, joint damage, infection, and misery. I tell anyone that has never owned a horse before, remember this one thing and you and your horse will be much happier. A horses hoof is in direct connection with it's heart, lose the hoof, lose the heart, lose the horse. Good Luck.

First things first; get a veterinarian that is experienced working with horses to do a physical on the horse, especially if you are planning on riding it. Ask the vet questions, don't be shy!! You should have done research BEFORE you bought a horse, because there is a lot you should know; I work at a vet clinic and have horses, so I know what I am talking about. If the hooves can be fixed, or the horse made more comfortable, the vet can give you the name of a good farrier and they can work together to get the horse into better health. Be prepared to spend money!!! Horses are not cheap....

you will have to talk to a farrier because it may be untreatable your horse may be like that till it dies but now give it TLC until you find out and after that to If the horse spooks easily then he or she probaly did have a bad life but why didn't you lookj at the horse before you buy it? when we go to auctions we talk with the owner before we bid so next time make sure you check out the horse I hope your horses hooves can be trimmed fand he will be ridable again so rember give your horse lots of TLC and a good amount of treats so the rest of his days are wonderful

tell you the truth you need to get a ferrier out there. and the vet.. look in the yellow book for ferrier.. it's better you get him out there soon be fore the cold weather gets in.. because that causes creakin.. and if he is a race horse you are going to have trouble gettin him to just plan trail ride so after you get his hoof fixed you need to start to lunge him..

A good farrier will do wonders; trimming, filing, clipping, greasing, etc. the hooves can help them get back to normal.

Yes, usually, but it's a slow process. You can't trim off a whole lot at once.
