John Wayne's characters only died in 7 of his films.....

The Fighting Seabees
The Shootist
The Sands of Iwo Jima
The Cowboys
Wake of the Red Witch
The Alamo
* The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
* Central Airport
* The Sea Chase
* The Deceiver (the only one on the list I haven't seen, but my Dad has)
* His death is NOT shown in these movies....you know his character is dead or assume he will die. *
I'm a huge John Wayne fan. I grew up watching his movies and I've tried to pass that on to my daughter. I own just about every one of his DVD's that's available. I wish they'd release more.

John Wayne died in 8 films for definite, and a further two, depending on how you want to look at it.
"Central Airport"
"Reap the Wild Wind"
"The Fighting Seabees"
"Wake of the Red Witch"
"The Sands of Iwo Jima"
"The Alamo"
"The Cowboys"
"The Shootist"
He was already dead at the start of "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance", and most of the film is a flashback to when he was alive. It is just stated that he died, but there is no actual death scene.
In "The Sea Chase" it is left to the audience to decide whether or not he died. The romantic among us like to think that he and Lana Turner were able to escape from the sinking ship at the end of the film, but it is not made clear.

I thought there were only two.....
His very first apperance on the big screen where he gets killed by a giant octopus and in True Grit.

Not enuff of 'em by all accounts-would have been wicked to have seen him actually killed by Red Indians,just think the first ever wild west snuff movie-how cool is that?

Green Beret's, True Grit, and the Alamo are the only ones I can remember him dying in.
