I have heard of this, and they are referring to plain, unsweetened yogurt with natural bacteria, it was being used to combat a yeast infection.
The natural bacteria found in yogurt is acidophilus, they make relatively cheap supplements.

Yes. It contains lactobacillus culture which fights the overgrowth of yeast.
See the info below or go to the site listed.
o A yogurt douche can be made by placing 6 Tbsp (88.72 mL) of plain nonpasteurized yogurt containing live lactobacillus culture in a small douche bag with warm water. Douching can be repeated 2 times daily for 3 to 4 days.

You can take acidophiles tablets from the Health food department of Walmart and accomplish the same thing. You must have a yeast infection.
If you have been on an anti biotic anytime in the last year or so, it kills off the healthy bacteria and causes a yeast infection. Take the tablets and eat live culture yogurt (be sure to read the label) This will assist in getting rid of the problem.
You can take acidophiles tablets and very occasionally use a mild vinegar douche (just to feel clean) Use baby wipes when you go to the bathroom. These will help you to feel cleaner.

Yes, I have used that on patients in the hospital...it is usually because they have taken a strong antibiotic and in turn gotten a yeast infection. Using yogurt helps to get the good bacteria where it is needed. You have to use the kind with live cultures, non sweetened and non flavored...and thin it with water.
There are medications for that (diflucan for example) but sometimes they are already on so much medication it is not worth the risk to combine it with other meds.

It's supposed to cure a yeast infection but there's so much over the counter stuff for that. Why would your doctor tell you to douche with anything? Most doctors don't recommend douching, the vagina cleanses itself internally. Are you sure this guy isn't really a dentist?

I haven't used yogurt for douching but I have used it to treat simple, noncomplicated vaginal candidiasis. The principle is the same. Yogurt with a live/active culture replaces and maintains the resident vaginal bacteria. Resident bacteria is also called flora. The normal flora controls the numbers of pathogenic (disease causing) bacteria.
