at 20 weeks the first pregnancy i was still in a size one pants maybe a 3 this time I started at about a size 5 and was in about a 7 but I wear them under my stomach so am pretty much wearing my same pants as befor. If i wore them around my stomach I would have been in a 10/11 if not more at 20 weeks. as long as doc is not concerned you will be fine.

I'm 17 weeks and had a horrible first trimester with a lot of morning sickness. So I've only gained a couple of pounds, and the doctor said I should be gaining 1 to 2 pounds each week. What might be happening is you are eating better food, so you aren't gaining weight but you are getting the right nutrients. Just try to eat healthy and ignore the scale. If you are craving something, eat it. Don't let the numbers make you crazy. If the food is bothering you, drink some Ensure. That was what kept me from losing weight during the morning sickness. And it has a bunch of nutrients and calories, which you need both right now. Hope this helps! (And yes, everyone is different, so don't get too caught up in being "Normal".)

Your *shape* can really change, regardless of weight gained. I weigh about 10 pounds less than I did before my pregnancy, but I am still in the same size. Now my legs are thinner and my belly rounder. Everyone is different. I only gained about 5 pounds until the last two months (but I've always had a little extra anyways!) and then I put on about 9 more towards the end.
I'd say, in short, if your doctor isn't worried and your fetus is growing properly, try not to worry about the number on the scale. Good luck!

well, at 20 wks I already was using maternity pants...I'm a tall woman and my belly has gotten big...altough i don't look fat, it's just a big belly. My dr says I'm having a big baby (my husband is pretty tall too) so as you say it depends on your own body type . I'malso carrying low, so that's why no pants would fit me anymore, I had to buy maternity kind. My blouses and shirts still fit (well like half of them, my breasts have gotten larger too) Dont worry too much about it. If your dr is not concerned you shouldn't be. Just trust him...they went to med school and know way more than we do.

I started out in a size 10 and I am only 11 weeks. i can barely fit into my 10s. Funny thing is, i've lost 3 or four pounds thanks to morning sickness. pregnancy is tricky! :) If your doctor isn't concerned than you shouldn't be.
