They're scared of commitment apparently.
But why are they scared of marriage if they already ACT like they're married?
I never understood it and never will.

In this country our level of morality and ethics have decreased so our tolerance has increased. I am now almost 60 years old. When I was a teenager, common-law couples were almost unheard of. Now, it's marriages that are less common. It was shocking then, its "not a big deal" anymore. I think it's sad but true.
Same is true of abortion and teen pregnancy. It happened back then but was not really accepted. Today, it's just the common thing.

Well the main reason is that many persons in today's world are afraid to commit by means of getting married. Another thing is that persons in common-law relationship maybe were married before so they are trying to play it safe the second time around. Some persons just feel that marriage changes every thing. To me whether you are in a common-law or marital relationship once you love the person it shouldn't matter.

Because they are ignorant of God's moral laws that say that a couple should be married before they have sex and raise children. They also are probably afraid of a nasty divorce if they find they made a mistake by getting married. By living together, parting is easy to do when they want to go, but it also shows that they are no better than animals.

I am not sure...i think some think marriage is just a piece of paper...or that they don't want to be "tied down"...

Honestly some even think, well if we break up in 10 years i won't have to go through that divorce crap..good luck there..it's called common law marriage..so you will still be in the same boat.

I'm happily legally married, but let me tell you, divorce sucks! I've been through it and even with a pre-nup the other person can still take a heck of a lot of your stuff and money!
