That's an excellent question. Most people agree that the Democrats already are no longer an effective party. If they fail to gain any power with so many negative feelings toward Bush, they will definitely need to step back and redefine themselves. It may be good for the party if they do lose. Perhaps they give up all their extreme left wing notions.

They have not been an effective party since the 1980s when Reagan was easily beatable. Actually, if they lose this time it may be for the best so the Republicans can take responsibility for their own failures. They are already laying the groundwork to blame the democrats for their Iraq disaster and the democrats are so lame they will stand there and take it.

Any party that could allow Kerry to lose a military-service argument to Chickenhawks Bush and Cheney probably does not deserve to hold office anyway.

If they don't win even with their worst candidate. Then the Dem's are in a world of hurt. I'm a Republican and I don't see how the Rep. can win. Unless Sen. John McCain run's for office that's their only chance. I'm a little worried about who the Dem's might select to run (ie. Hiliary Clinton & Barrak Obama) 1st Hiliary is a Women (nothing wrong with that) it just may be bad timing. and Barrak Obama is a hot ticket right now except he is truly unproven in the senate. He's only served 2 years in the Senate office. He never held an office where he made the final decision.
(I like him but I'm not sure the country is ready for a minority which is sad. He'd get my vote if McCain did not run)

Not when they are already talking about voter fraud... They allowed their party to be stolen by extreme leftists and have yet to find a way to recover from it. They continue to try and establish themselves into the center but are not doing that well either. Hillary is going to have a pretty difficult time convincing anyone she is a centrist... Kerry will shoot himself in the foot again, with his mouth. Not a lot of optimism in the entire organization. Obama is their only real hope and he is too inexperienced in congress. Which is also a negative.. it is very seldom a senator gets elected to the high office.

Life will go on. - just like it will if the GOP loses the election.

However I seriously doubt that the Democrats will lose this election and predict a landslide in voting this year with them ending up getting back Congress and the Senate.

Bush and the Republicans created most of or all of the "negativity towards them". It just did not pop up out of the ground like a mushroom!

Righteous opposition and fighting spirit are NOT negativity. Nor is standing up for the Constitution against an installed dictatorship.
The polls seem to be REWARDING the above. That doesn't mean that massive fraud couldn't quash the will of the people. Your side seems not to like REAL democracy. Down with Dictator Dumbya!!!

although this appears to be a stab rather than a question I'll tell you what will probably happen if they don't win. you'll have 2 more years just like the last 6 after which if there is much of an America left to vote.. will vote in a democratic president.

Ever? Of course. People have short memories. It was only 8 years between the Dem landslide in '64 & the Rep landslide in '72.

The only way the Democrat's will lose is through illegal rigging of the vote counting or the election is canceled and Marshall Law is declared!
