No, people feel that it is a demonstration of something-what, I do not know-but regardless, some feel that it is a part of their freedom of speech and of expression to be able to demonstrate against their government. People should be able to speak out against their government and this is one form.

Only if the flag is not yours and/or you burn it in public somewhere that has a law against open fires.

Plus, if you have an old tattered flag that you destroy by any means other than burning it, it would be a crime now.

Wake up, America! Almost every documented case of protest-related flag burning in this country is done in protest of laws against flag burning! If you would stop threatening to outlaw it, no one would do it! A law against flag burning is yet another "solution in search of a problem".

Of course not. The flag is just a symbol. What makes our country special are the freedoms that we enjoy, especially the freedom of speech. Burning a flag is political speech and thus is protected as it should be. Besides the proper way to dispose of an old or damaged flag is by burning it. Politicians who say they are for a flag burning ammendment are using false patriotism for political gain.

So once you're marching down the line and that i turn u off what does that say andor recommend? Flag Burning is loose speech notwithstanding in case you are able to realize it or no longer. I served 9 years in the U. S. militia, worked for the VA for over 12 and that i don't have a unmarried flag or a unmarried logo apart from some militia kit in a drawer. i might individually like it if all poultry hawks who communicate a sturdy sport have been required to serve in a attempt against zone..... now it quite is loose speech

If your question is whether flag burning in and of itself should be a crime, the answer clearly is no. In fact, the burning of a flag, done respectfully, is considered to be an honorable way of discarding a faded, tattered or otherwise worn out flag. Flag burning, when carried out as a protest, should be protected as political speech. The essence of free speech is our right to disagree. If we only protect speech that we agree with or that is popular, we no longer have free speech.

I don't think people should be burning the flag. However it shouldn't be a crime because that takes away peoples' freedom of speech. It's wrong but it's a free country.

Yes, it definitely should be a crime. Even if you don't like your government, you shouldn't disrespect the flag. It's a symbol of our country, even if the country is an embarrassment. I think that burning ANY country's flag is wrong; it's just disrespectful.

Yes, I think it should be respected as a symbol of the nation. If you are unhappy with that country then find a way to state your case. Burning the flag is just the wrong way to go. All you accomplish is to upset the citizens and they will not listen to you.

No! Flag-burning is one of the few methods used to express anger against the gov't around the world. Curtailing this right is essentially barring people from free speech under any circumstance. I mean, even the Jewish Israelis allow Muslim Palestinians to burn Israeli flags & effigies during protests provided that violence does not occur. And the Jews in Israel are notorious for their deep intolerance for any freedom of any kind, period. If they are granting the right of flag-burning, that's definitely sayin' somethin'.

No, of course not, that would negate the very freedom that our country stands for. Along the same line, I'm also free to think that any flag-burning dweeb is an unpatriotic idiot.

No, it should not. Offending other people with stupid actions like this is a sign of bad manners but should not be a crime.

However, in my country (Czech Republic) it is a misdemeanor and it is also a crime throughout the world, except the US (as of now) and a few others. So, consider this opinion a minority rather than mainstream. People just do not want to be offended - perhaps for good reasons.
