(hitting in a nutshell)
1. feet shoulder width apart, slightly bend the knees.
2. when pitcher begins to throw, trigger
3. small step w/front foot
4.turn hips, lower legs
5. throw your hands to the ball(with bat in hands)
6. follow through and squash the bug*
7. make sure you keep your eyes on the ball the entire time or you hit air. (ball not pitcher)

This depends on a few things. What side of the plate you swing from, what size bat you use, and metal or wood. It is much easier to hit with a metal bat because the sweet spot is bigger. Ultimately it boils down to your form and technique. You should go online and do some research on baseball tips and drills.

Step into it with front foot when the pitcher releases the ball. Keep your eye on the ball, watch it all the way through.

Personally I like the theory of reading the seams but this is extremely difficult. If you can perfect it though you shouldn't be able to miss.
