On a feature film the size of the HP trilogy--
heres how it works. Theres an agency called extras casting.
Check out the prior movies and look for the name in the credits. Send them your headshot and information about yourself. Your going to need to probably be located in the U.K. though, since they wouldnt take you serious if your in michigan and are trying to work in the U.K. especially since they wouldnt pay you to get there.
Extras in feature films of that magnitude get paid a non-union day rate of around 200 bucks. It was $175 about 4 years ago, so I assume it has gone up since. If you happen to have a SAG card (screen actors guild) you make more, I think $275 a day.
Its going to be difficult to get cast on it, even in the background. With extras casting they dont really have any say in it. The production team just says, we need 25 students for the background of this scene a few days prior to shooting, the casting agency just pools 20 kids together and viola...you have your extras.

The films they are speaking of that you look for casting calls etc are lower budget movies where they wont pay you. Harry Potter is NOT LOW budget in anyway, and they are required to pay each and every person in the production, including extras. Even if you volunteer to work for free, they are required to pay you.... Its Union rules under SAG-the guild that sanctions movies and actors.

There are casting calls. Sometimes they put this on Harry Potter's official website. But other times they just announce it through the Media. Like a few months ago there was a casting call for the part of Luna Lovegood and blond girls from all over the world showed up. Lol. I think they select extras same way or while selecting the main characters.

I hope that helps. And good luck. :D

connect an extras employer. yet you isn't waiting to easily p.c.. what action picture you're in; they p.c.. you and enable you comprehend what action picture you would be in. be careful nevertheless; do no longer connect any companies that want money up front. maximum first rate, respected companies get you artwork and then take the value (for having you on their books) out of the money you're paid to your first interest. this may be a one off charge and generally lasts for some year. sturdy good fortune.

You'll need to keep a look out for any casting calls for the movie. Most extras just show up at the time and date it says, and if they get lucky, they get picked.

I don't know but someone from my school was an extra and the school made a big thing of it.
Why do school's make big things out of small things. Like when bad people do one piece of good work, I mean yes it's good they did something good but what about the good people who do a lot of good work.
Sorry I couldn't help you and I went off on one a bit didn't I :-)
