Each publishing company has their own guidelines. If you're planning to submit your work to them, check for their guidelines and make necessary changes before you do. But generally, font size is 10 or 12 and font type is times new roman.

There isn't really a standard, although there are some fonts that are used more than others. Good books will tell you what font is used, like Goudy old style or whatever somewhere within the pages of the book (front or back).

most book compnaines use standard fonts like arial, helvetica, times, times new roman, and century. since 99% of any publishing company has them already and they are computer standard fonts.
