It's all a matter of how you define "help." Which do you think is more helpful:

1. Giving someone money, food, and health care.
2. Creating an environment where someone has a chance to make a success of their life.

Personally, I think everyone is better off with the opportunity to make a success of their life. Giving someone a fish only works for today. We need to teach people how to fish.

did anyone here even watch the Kerry-bush debates where Kerry talked about how the taxes he proposed would effect him and congress more than the common man? you want to ***** about it but the republicans have had the power and have ran the government the way they wanted.. if the democrats would have had the same power then congress would have paid a lot more in taxes.. and I'm sure you can go online and look up charities for ANY politician.. it looks good for all of them so of course they will do it.

You have missed the point. The democrats believe in helping the poor, while the republicans believe in helping the rich. The working poor are worse off now than before Bush was in office. But Republican know that the poor do not help you get elected while the money that the rich donate to their campaigns does help them get elected. The republicans care much more about keeping their power than they care about the real needs of Americans. Why do people make up statements that have no basis in fact, like the one about Cheney giving more money to Katrina victims than all the democrats? What a load of rubbish.

Democrats have been whining that same tune for almost a hundred years. Yet they have been in power for about half of that time. Why didn't they solve that problem by now
They don't want to eliminate poverty because they would no longer have a platform and those Demo. politicians would have to find honest jobs..
Also, only a guy who plans to remain a "little guy" refers to himself as a "little guy",and tries to get a better deal for "us little guys".
Why doesn't he learn new skills, and educate himself so he can move on?

As far as I'm concerned, neither the Democratic nor the Republican plan helps the middle-class.

Well, now that their taxes have been lowered, probably not as much. However, just like anyone else, there's nothing stating that they can't donate money through ways OTHER than the government to the poor. Isn't that a novel idea?

The democrats did nothing but try to obstruct; tax reduction, welfare reform (veto 2 times), education, and any other legislation directed toward low income families.

They are not in favor of tax reduction, rather the opposite.... as Nancy Polosi has already dictated. Strange how things get turned around, and expect people to believe them.

I read somewhere that John Kerry would have been the third richest man to hold the office of President had he been elected. Additionally you have to go down the list to 7 or 8 to find the first Republican and neither George W. or his father made the top ten list.

Libs, you gotta love 'em.

Dick Cheney gave more money to Katrina victims than all the Millionaire Democrats in Congress put together.
Democrats are hypocrites.
They keep minorities and poor whites on their Democrat Plantation, with their welfare and taxes on the working people.

The libs just refuse to admit that they are wrong. This economy is producing jobs by the thousands and those crybabies moan about them being low-paying. RIGHT we should take people who are living in cardboard boxes and make them CEO's to satisfy the loony lefties. Give them a job that they can handle and that will give them some spending power and help them pull themselves up? Perish the thought. The Loony Lefties want to "take care' of them, like these folks can't think for themselves. The brie and Chablis crowd are limousine liberal elitists and they make me want to puke.
