find a fishing net that fits over your kid then just attach leaves stems etc. or go to the army surplus store and buy a gillie suit

Well, when I was ten, my sisters and I were trees in a 4-H play. I just held up a big evergreen branch in front of me and my sisters carried dead branches with green paper leaves glued on.
I also saw a pic once in a friend's book of a cardboard cylinder w/ twigs poking out and leaves on them.
And there was the "Gilligan's Island" episode where they made bush costumes out of really big wicker baskets covered with twigs. but you had to crawl on hands and knees.
Or you could just make a sandwich board (front and back) and attach twigs and leaves with glue. It depends how picky your son is.

One more thing... a mask/headpiece is always a good thing at Halloween.

I would go for some brown pants... (trunk) and a green sweatshirt... then I would cut out little felt leaves and adhere them all over the sweatshirt... I guess that would be more tree than bush, but... More comfortable than hanging branches!

I guess you can use some green fabric and create a ball-like top... real round, down to his knees, wide in the middle, and you could stuff it... that would be more bush-like....

I can see it in my head, just can't describe it! Sorry, hope it helps.
