My project involves going to the mall and having a few of my friends stand in a central area and look up. My controlled variable is the number of people that are standing there looking. I'm recording the people who look up to see what they're looking at or ask what they're looking at. But now I'm going to the library tonight and I can't quite figure out what information to look for so that I can write my research paper. Any ideas?

To write a really good paper you will ideally use resources available in current scientific journals. Ask the reference librarian for assistance and they can guide you on finding articles and studies about curiosity.

The reference librarian usually sits at a desk nearer to the encyclopedias, computers etc. The circulation desk (where you checkout books) can tell you where they are located. This is what reference librarians do for a living--help people find information on a particular subject. They should help you find resources and help you find out how to explore the subject as indepthly as you want to.

Bring money for the photocopier and pages of print from the computer since the most current stuff isn't usually available for checkout. A university library is ideal for this work but even most public libraries have a reference librarian available during most busy hours.

Also make sure you have given yourself a couple of hours of free time to gather the material. They will probably set you up looking for titles of relevant articles from indexes and then you'll have to actually locate the articles and copy them or print them out (if they are on the computer).

I used to work in a university library and it is just amazing what resources they have for you if you ask for help.

Good Luck, Deb

dont go to the library, make it up yourself. And by the way, that's actually a really good way to see how many people are curious of what your friends are looking at.

good luck!
