I have already asked my doctor that question yesterday. He said that it would be ok. I'm still scared because I'm always hearing about babies being harm from medicines that the mother takes. I just dont' know. My sugar isn't up or anything. My pressure and everything has been good. Has anyone heard or know anything harmful about this medication?

I do not have extra money to go to a different doctor. They're really all about the same. I just thought somebody knew something. I was just asking. I'm just gonna pray on it and let God lead me to a decision. Thank you anyway.

PREGNANCY: There are no adequate studies in pregnant women. Most experts agree that insulin is the best treatment for pregnant women with diabetes.
NURSING MOTHERS: Metformin is excreted into breast milk and can therefore be transferred to the nursing infant. Nursing mothers should not use metformin.

I was prescribed Metformin, but it wasn't for diabetes. I was diagnosed with PCOS, which causes infertility in a lot of women. I believe it's part of the reason why I finally became pregnant. I don't take it anymore because I'm not longer with the fertility doctor who prescribed it so I would get a second opinion just to make sure. Although I heard that it decreases the chance of pregnancy; however, don't take my word for it.

Look, if you are not completely sure about your doctor's answer, try finding a second opinion from another doctor. Don't look for one here, as there are not so nice people here that can tell you what apparently you want to hear, just to earn extra points. I'm not talking everyone here, so no flames, but its just such a delicate subject (a baby!!!!!!!!), that you should go to see another doctor. Please take my advice. I'm 16 weeks pregnant and have asked for second opinions many times when I'm not completely satisfied with the answers they give me.
Good luck, and God bless you and your child.

If you are unsure about the advice your doctor gave you..then I would get a second opinion from a different doctor.
