if u want the divorce then pay half and get it over with. if u don't then tell him he wants it so he can pay for it. i hope u have a lawyer. u don't always need one but its good idea to talk to one if u don't. u aren't legally bound unless a judge tells u to pay that half. if he is the only one that has an attorney and u want out and there aren't any kids or property then u can get it over with quickly and just move on. good luck.

Not sure on UK Laws! In the US if it isn't court ordered at the time of the seperation/divorce than no she wouldnt have to pay anything. However; we have lawsuits here. So if her x wanted to sue her for 1/2 the money he can try.

I am sorry this is happening to you. It sounds like you are getting screwed. I just want you to know that if I am reading this right, welcome to the nihgtmare that many men live through. I hope all women reading this, get the message. Men have been getting screwed in recent years over alimony and support. Maybe it will take a few women to lose almost their whole life savings before we realize that it's not OK to screw someones life up. Which mostly happens to men who decided to take a chance on marriage. Marriage to men= Bankruptcy. Wealthy man meets average women. Two years later = poor man and wealthy women. Wake up ladies, it's time you start getting the short end of the stick. I hope it all works out for you.

I am not sure on this one----but get a lawyer if you don't already have one, and get some legal advice from him----i cannot say what the laws are in your state as far as divorce goes. Good Luck!

This depends on the circumstances. You'll have to talk to your lawyer. Chances are, though, if it's his lawyer that is asking it- it's probably legal. Lawyers aren't in the habit of asking for things they aren't entitled to.
