First do not get behind. Keep up with the reading. Make notes in the side margins of your books and use highlighter to underline key points. You are doing this so that when you go back to review you do not have to read it all again. Also try explaining difficult concepts to someone else, you can learn a lot just by attempting to teach it. Or talk to yourself as if you were talking to someone else. This helps you to remember the material.

As to exams, don't wait till the night before to study and then be half dead for the exam. Study sooner and get a good night's sleep. On multiple guess test, answers all of the ones you know for sure first, be careful of the wording so they don't trick you, then do the ones that you are not sure of by eliminating the answers you know are not right and listen to the little voice in your head to choose between the options. If you have read and studied well your subconscious mind knows the answer. That is why most people will tell you that what pops into your mind first is usually the right answer.

Find a study buddy, studying is easier when someone else is studying with you. You learn better when you discuss things together, and if your buddy doesn't know something and you explain it to them you tend to have a better understanding of the subject. Try to only study about 30 minutes at a time, and then take breaks, eat something, talk to a friend on the phone, do something to try and take your mind off of the subject for about 10-15 minutes. Try to get enough sleep, sometimes this is hard. Flash cards, make up flash cards and carry them in your pocket at all times, read them while walking to the car, standing in line.

Go to class, study, do the homework. In classes like math and science the material builds. If you don't understand something get it cleared up right away. Don't let it go. A healthy dose of humility is good. Just because you did well in high school or a semester in college don't get a big head. Keep on working. Good luck!

There is no substitute for hard work. Be sure to read around your subject and pay attention to detail. Good notes are also vital if you are doing an exam based subject.

study and reflect it, and think critically what you have read. In addition, write what ever you understand from the text. Be regular in the class, definately you can secure the good mark or grade.

Go to class, listen, take notes, and do your homework alone. If you have questions, ask them before the test.
