Not really. Don't let him watch tv--it's not good for them, especially at only 6 months old. The pictures on the tv move too quickly for their brains to keep up with and it can cause eye problems and ADD or ADHD. It's not safe until they are at least 2 yrs. old.

I wouldn't worry so much. If it is a bother just turn the TV off. Personally I don't think there is much on TV I can't do without so when mine started being a little obsessed I just stopped watching. My life is actually a lot better too! Amazing the difference actually. You are a good mother to be concerned about it, a lot of parents use it as a baby-sitter, but unless it is for long periods of time I don't think you should worry yourself about it

My baby is seven weeks old and when im feeding her on the couch and watching tv her eyes are also glued to the tv....its probably just the bright colors and noise that draw her attention, because I dont think her eyes can focus that far away yet.

It will not cause ADD or ADHD. My son is 5 months old and becomes engulfed in watching the TV with his big sister who is 13. You can't stop a child from watching TV if you have a TV on in a room odds are they will turn to it. Don't let your TV be his baby sitter though. As for the pictures move to fast for his brain..Um okay never heard that before because when your walking him down the road maybe the tree's move to fast for him or when driving in a car and he can see out the window maybe that's to fast for him?
Heredity is the most common cause of ADHD or ADD.research indicates the frontal lobe, basal ganglia, caudate nucleus, cerebellum, as well as other areas of the brain, play a significant role in ADHD because they are involved in complex processes that regulate behavior .These higher order processes are referred to as executive functions. Executive functions include such processes as inhibition, working memory, planning, self-monitoring, verbal regulation, motor control, maintaining and changing mental set and emotional regulation. No studies have found any connection between television viewing and ADHD. Nor have any studies indicated that children with ADHD watch more television than do those without ADHD
And to the girl that said TV causes AUTISM the article you read said MIGHT. Perhaps you should read this..Scientists aren’t certain what causes autism, but it’s likely that both genetics and environment play a role. Researchers have identified a number of genes associated with the disorder. Studies of people with autism have found irregularities in several regions of the brain. Other studies suggest that people with autism have abnormal levels of serotonin or other neurotransmitters in the brain. These abnormalities suggest that autism could result from the disruption of normal brain development early in fetal development caused by defects in genes that control brain growth and that regulate how neurons communicate with each other. While these findings are intriguing, they are preliminary and require further study. The theory that parental practices are responsible for autism has now been disproved.
Man people will say anything I recall when there was a study out that has now been retracted saying the shots that a child gets at 6 months old causes autism.

My daughter loves to watch adverts, and everytime she sees one with babies on it, she gets excited, points and says beeby, and if there's an advert for chocolate, she holds her hands out to have the chocolate off the telly.
And if she sees a dog in an advert, she'll point and say dada, woo woo, trying to make the woof sound...she's so cute!
Also, at night, she like baby tv, (telewest cable channel 703) and gets glued to that if we are having a hard time sleeping. It's so cute to watch her actually reacting to what she sees!
Obviously we don't have her parked infront of it all day, and I only let her watch at certain times. She is almost 18 months old, and is a very bright girl.

YES! My 7 month old loves TV, it doesn't matter what is on, she likes the flashing and all the colors. She loves Dora, the explorer, Go, Diego, Go, and The Backyardigans-mostly because of the music and all the colors. I don't see anything wrong with babies watching TV, just as long as they are not parked in front of it for hours on end so mom can do what she wants. Which I am sure your baby isn't!

Hello,
My hubby and I do not let our twins watch TV per se. We do let them watch this DVD collection called The Praise Baby Collection. They love it so much! As soon as they even hear the intro music, they are glued to the TV.
But, no I do not plop my twins in front of the boob toob...If the DVDs are not educational, like the Praise Baby Collection or Baby Einstein, they are not watching TV.
Here is the link to the Praise Baby Collection and Baby Einsten.
Also, we have Comcast Cable and there is section from PreK Kids and videos for our twins to watch as well.
Hope this helps you..............:-)

My son is 7 weeks old an i have a daughter who is 3. She loves having the cartoons on every morning. She doesn't really watch it much, but she loves to listen while she is playing with her dolls and things. When I have to sit on the couch to feed my son his bottle, he instantly turns his head toward the tv to watch and listen. I used to wonder if it would hurt him, but he loves to watch the colors, so I don't try to turn his head. He loves it, and my daughter loves it. Can't be too bad I guess.

Gawd, yes. We had it easy with my daughter. She likes the background noise once in a while but really doesn't care for it or ask for it. Since day 1, our son has been fascinated by the boob tube. Consequently, he's been great for our tv habits -- we hardly ever have it on anymore. TV is horrible for little eyes and developing brains.

Well my daughter is 4yrs old and ever since she was a baby she loved tv I would let her watch educational stuff for babys only while she was fussing and i couldn't tend to her at the time. now she's almost 5 and very smart and really enjoys reading and her movies but as long as you limit it i think it's fine.
