My 7 month old has been pooping 3-5 times a day for a week or two now, so much that he's getting diaper rash. I've tried cutting back the amount of baby food except for cereal but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I don't think he's losing weight but I'm worried about him. He's otherwise happy and healthy.

UH, I'm not an idiot, I don't leave the diapers on him more than a few minutes (to make sure he's done) and I DO clean him and put on diaper cream when it's red.

I would take your young man to see a doctor if you have any concerns.
A 7 month old should be having a fairly varied diet by now. Are you giving him too much fruit (particularly grapes) as that can cause diarrhea? Or has he changed milk type - are you still breast feeding, have you introduced cows' milk?
Can you pin point anything different in his feeding at all?
If he's happy and healthy there probably isn't much to worry about, but I would go to your baby clinic and see the doctor or nurse to set your mind at rest.
Good luck, and let me know how you get on : hilary.martin@blueyonder.co.uk

some breastfed little ones can go upto 10 days between poops, my daughter is going possibly two times per week. more effective than frequency that is the consistency that concerns... and also "typical" is different for each toddler... For a toddler who poops accepted to pooping once per week isn't typical.....and if its not typical then different indicators are in a lot of situations present like irritability, lack of urge for nutrients and so on Edit: and no, they dont in good structure the entire a million week crap in there yet in basic terms dont produce a lot because they are digesting up all of their milk.

I would ask my doctor, but it probably would not hurt to give him about a half of a dose of peptobismol. It will slow it down enough to heal the rash. For the diaper rash try a cream with the highest levels of Zinc oxide.

The diaper rash is from you not cleaning him thoroughly! Not from going to much! Make sure you wash him well and use some cream or powder. If he doesn't have the runs then he's OK.

There is no such thing as "too much". A healthy person will eat several small meals a day and have several small bowel movements also. You will have to keep his bottom clean to prevent rash, but you don't need to cut back on food if he is hungry.

Hey, at least he poops! I would not worry about it unless he was losing weight and dehydrorated. As long as he is eating and drinking, keep pooping kiddo!

You need to see a doc. He could have a stomach bug.. Is it diarehha(sp?) or normal.? Make sure he keeps fluids down.
