I moved out of an apartment rental and the movers made some minor dents / scratches on the door frame. The landlord needs this to be fixed. The dents aren't big--less than 0.5in deep and less than 3in long. The door frame isn't new or fancy--it's painted white with some kind of glossy paint or varnish. The dents that already existed before I moved in were simply painted over.

Now, my question is, how much will it cost if the landlord hires a handyman to fix this? I know that, if I do it myself, then the cost for this simple job is low (just materials cost of paint brush, paint, sandpaper, & wood filler/putty). However, if a handyman is hired, then the cost could be higher. Also, I know the LL will ask the handyman to perform some other expensive repairs that I am not responsible for--hence, there's a possibility that the LL would shift the costs of these other repairs to me.

I really want to know how much of my security deposit I will get back. (FYI, I live in the Bay Area.)
