Sonnet 30
Love is not all: it is not meat nor drink
Nor slumber nor a roof against the rain;
Nor yet a floating spar to men that sink
And rise and sink and rise and sink again;
Love can not fill the thickened lung with breath,
Nor clean the blood, nor set the fractured bone;
Yet many a man is making friends with death
Even as I speak, for lack of love alone.
It well may be that in a difficult hour,
Pinned down by pain and moaning for release,
Or nagged by want past resolution’s power,
I might be driven to sell your love for peace,
Or trade the memory of this night for food.
It well may be. But I do not think I would.

Beautiful, meaningful sonnet. Love is seen as an emotion that can and probably would be traded in times of deep stress such as starvation and/or peace. Love is also seen as something a person can relinquish if stress becomes too hard. Love is also seen as an emotion people will die for because their lives have been spent without love and loneliness can lead to brave deeds. Love is made into a very complicated emotion in this poem, but the poet's answer is simple...i do not think I would give up love. Such a complicated theme and such a simple ending.

Ok I cannot let you know in that many phrases that's so that you can feel! But approximately this sonnet feel approximately it. What is he precisely pronouncing do you feel?? My mistress' eyes don't seem to be just like the solar, coral is extra crimson than her lips If snow is white her breasts don't seem to be If hairs are wires, she has wiry hair I have visible roses, however no roses on her cheeks (she does not have rosy cheeks) I odor bigger perfumes than her breath Music sounds bigger than listening to her talk My mistress does not stroll with a grace And the final 2 strains being the important! MY LOVE FOR HER IS RARE, NOBODY ELSE COMPARES So although his mistress has flaws. She isn't as beautiful as the opposite usual matters round her, she is not any truly cosmetic correctly she is a simple jane. Yet, there's some thing exact approximately her, and no one else compares to her. It's a sonnet approximately love, I'm certain you'll be able to write some thing approximately it. Good Luck!

Lovely sonnet, in a funny way it reminds me of the Beach Boys' song:
'I may not always love you,
But long as there are stars above you,
You never need to doubt it
I’ll make you so sure about it
God only knows what I’d be without you'

Both start off denying love and finish by affirming it's importance.

I don't like many sonnets, but this one is alright. I like when you said many a man is making friends with death even as i speak for lack of love
